Overview

PEARL is a public, accredited, tuition-free K–8 alternative to a traditional brick-and-mortar school for Washington State residents.

PEARL is designed for families who want to be actively involved in their child’s education each day. Our certificated teachers partner with parents to guide, support, assess, and help students achieve their individual learning goals.

For some families, a traditional school setting meets their needs well. For others, students may benefit from a different kind of educational approach — one that centers around their family’s schedule, interests, and unique circumstances.

Whether your child has a demanding athletic career, a health condition, a learning disability, entrepreneurial interests, or you simply enjoy learning together as a family, PEARL provides a flexible Alternative Learning Experience with a certified teacher by your side.

How Learning Works

Learning with PEARL is home-based and family-guided, with structure and support provided by the program. Each enrolled family is partnered with one certificated PEARL teacher who works closely with parents or guardians throughout the year to support student learning.

  • Home-based learning guided by families

  • One certificated teacher partnered with each family

  • Weekly contact through Seesaw, with Zoom meetings on some weeks

  • Learning plans created and reviewed regularly

  • Ongoing communication to support student progress
