Planning Your Student's Learning

Choosing curriculum is an important step in planning your student’s learning. Use the information below as a starting point, and we look forward to working with you to build a great year together.

  • 1. Explore Curriculum Options
Review available curriculum and begin thinking about what will work best for your student and your family.

    2. Connect with Your Teacher
Your PEARL teacher will partner with you to offer guidance and suggestions based on your student’s needs, learning style, and family structure.

    3. Complete the Parent SLP Form
Fill out one form per student to share your initial course selections.

    • Not sure what to choose yet? That’s okay—enter a starting point
    • You can make changes as you continue planning

    4. Finalize and Request Curriculum
Your teacher will create the Student Learning Plan (SLP) for your review. Once approved, you can move forward with requesting your selected curriculum.

  • 1.0 FTE students will:

    • Complete all subject areas (math, LA, science, social studies, PE/health, fine arts)
    • Participate in SBAC state testing

    .8 FTE students:

    • May opt out of state testing
  • CBIs allow students to take lessons with local instructors using PEARL allocation.

Explore options using our CBI Map

Already working with an instructor? Submit paperwork here: Parent paperwork and Instructor paperwork

You can also review full requirements in the Parent Handbook.

  • Field trips are a highlight for many PEARL students—everything from pottery and theater to iFly and nature experiences.

Sign ups open June 1st, including the Meet & Greet event.
New trips will be released monthly over the summer—watch your email for updates!

  • First semester is often when you need to acquire the majority of your curriculum for the year. Keep in mind that you'll have allocation available again in January at the start of the second semester where you can choose more supplemental curriculum and supplies.

  • Taking advantage of the PEARL Lending Library is a great way to preserve your allocation. Take a moment to look at what the library has available and review library guidelines as you plan for the coming school year by clicking here.
