Knudson, Kim
Hello!
I’m Kim Knudson, and I am really excited to be a part of the PEARL team for my 32nd year of teaching, and I can’t wait to get started! I have taught all grades, pre-K - 8th grade, and I’ve worked in CA, AZ, NV, and now WA for the past seventeen years. I also worked for Pearson Educational Technology and for the Nevada State Dept. of Education. My favorite subjects to teach are reading and math, but I have a special fondness for teaching STEM and robotic technology. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies/ Elementary Education from California State University, East Bay, where I also received my teaching credential. I received my Masters of Education in Reading and Language Arts from University of Nevada, Reno. In 2013 I earned my National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist (ages 7-12), and I recertified in 2023. I have been married for over 20 years to my amazing husband, Mark, who is a retired teacher and the best house-husband ever. We worked together in an online school that he spearheaded creating in Woodland, WA. We live on Sequim Bay, and we love doing anything outdoors: camping, hiking, golfing, crabbing, kayaking, boating, and just plain relaxing. I also enjoy cooking, baking, reading, and working out. While I can often be found in my garden of flowers, Mark is busy building boats or working on other woodworking projects for us to use and enjoy together. We have one furbaby, Rollo, who is the clown in our life. I run agility courses with him, he runs FCAT (a speed competition), and we will soon begin scent training for truffle hunting, something his ancient breed is known for. He goes with us everywhere! As your PEARL teacher I promise to do my very best to support each and every one of you, and if I don't have the answer to a question or problem I will do what is necessary to find it. I am very dedicated to my job, and I pride myself in my communication skills. Please don’t hesitate to reach out; I have tons of experience and resources at all levels. I love learning and having a positive impact on students and their families. I’m looking forward to having a great year with you all!
