Teacher, Zoom Class Coordinator

Hello!

I’m Kim Knudson, and I am thrilled to be part of the PEARL team as I begin my 34th year of teaching! This is my third wonderful year with PEARL. Throughout my career, I have taught students in pre-K through eighth grade in California, Arizona, Nevada, and, for the past 20 years, Washington. I have also worked for Pearson Educational Technology and the Nevada State Department of Education.

My favorite subjects to teach are reading and math, but I have a special fondness for STEM and robotics. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies/Elementary Education and my teaching credential from California State University, East Bay. I later received my Master of Education in Reading and Language Arts from the University of Nevada, Reno. In 2013, I earned National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist for students ages 7–12, and I renewed my certification in 2023.

I have been married for more than 20 years to my amazing husband, Mark, a retired teacher and the best house-husband ever! We live on Sequim Bay and love traveling, camping, hiking, crabbing, kayaking, boating, and simply relaxing outdoors. I also enjoy cooking, baking, reading, gardening, and working out. While I can often be found among my flowers, Mark is usually busy building boats or creating other woodworking projects for us to use and enjoy together. We also have one furbaby, Rollo, who is the clown in our lives and goes with us everywhere!

As your PEARL teacher, I promise to do my very best to support each and every one of you. If I don’t have the answer to a question or problem, I will do everything I can to find it. I am deeply dedicated to my work and take great pride in communicating consistently with families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I have many years of experience and a wealth of resources for students at all grade levels. I love learning and making a positive difference in the lives of students and their families. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year with you all!
