Teacher

Hi, I'm Erika Weller. I've been teaching with the Pearl School since 2010 and very much enjoy my work. I have a Bachelor's degree in Russian, an ESL minor and certificate, and a Master's in Teaching. I am certified to teach 4-12 English, History, and Russian. Prior to teaching in Pearl, I taught for 3 years at Quilcene High School (English, history, yearbook) and for a semester at Kingston Jr. High. Within Pearl, I have been lead teacher for most of my time. I have taught Zoom Spanish, CodeQuest, Writing, and I am currently the Curriculum Specialist. I love trying new things, creating, and working with people.

My family and I live in Sequim, which is a wonderful place. My husband, Jim, teaches math at Quilcene High School, and has for over 25 years. He is even teaching kids of students he taught initially (his "grand-students"). We have 2 boys and 3 girls, 3 of whom are in college. We have two daughters at home with us. I homeschooled a couple of my children at different times.

Because Sequim doesn't get a lot of sunshine, I take a winter trip somewhere warm to keep my spirits up. I love exploring and traveling the world! It's one of my biggest passions. So far during the winter I've been to Puerto Vallarta, Cabo, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. I also love speaking to people in their own language if I can. I can speak Russian and Spanish, and have a small knowledge of Italian and German, so I get by. I am also big into exercise, healthy eating, and learning to cook healthily.
