I have been married to my husband, Jim, for almost 26 years and our family currently lives in Sequim. We have two children; one a WSU graduate with her animal science degree and one with a year and a half left working on his mechanical engineering degree. My son and husband are into building hotrods, racing go-carts, bird hunting, and skiing. My daughter and I share a passion for horses as we like to rope and barrel race. You could say that my whole family is really into horse-power. I am currently coaching the local high school equestrian team, am on the junior rodeo board, and help my daughter co-coach 4-H during the summer. Our family enjoys hiking and skiing (both snow and water) as well as spending time with friends and family in addition to caring for our 4 dogs and 2 horses.
In addition to the fun outdoor activities and animals I spend much of my time on, I dabble in photography (mainly for friends) and love to scrapbook. I used to teach classes at our local craft store on scrapbooking and card making techniques. Along with photography and scrapbooking, I have found a love of technology. I am fortunate to be able to use this love of technology in my work environment as well.
I have a bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum Instruction and Assessment. As a teacher of 13 years I have taught kindergarten and first grade as well as taught contained 5th grade in an ALE program in Sequim. During most of those early years I was also working part time for Pearl but eventually decided to hang my hat up in the classroom and move to Pearl full time! This program has allowed me to grow as an individual, stay connected with my family and friends as well as meet some incredible people. I would not trade it for anything!
