Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, SBAC testing

I’m a Northwest gal, born and raised in Oregon.  My husband and I came up to the Olympic Peninsula in 2000 for the easy access to water and mountains, loved it and stayed.  We raised two girls here on a little acreage with a big garden and a delightful pond that is home to migrating birds of all sorts. “Empty nesters” now, we get to travel to visit our daughters who have finished college and are trying out life in various fabulous locations. 

I started my teaching career way back in 1988 with a degree in Elementary Education from Oregon State University and taught in public elementary schools in Oregon and Alaska, a girls high school in Tanzania, and eventually made my way to Quilcene School District in Washington. While later working to help start and then serve as the director of a Waldorf school here on the Olympic Peninsula I earned a master’s degree in school administration.  Along the way I also ran a preschool in my house and spent several years homeschooling our kids, so this is my 38th year in education! Zoiks.

I came to the PEARL faculty in 2010 currently serve part time in two roles: 1) as a member of our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support team, connecting families to academic resources like Lexia to help with learning challenges and 2) as the newly appointed SBAC coordinator of state testing for our full-time students.
