I live in Sequim on five acres in Discovery Bay. My daughter and I enjoy exploring our area and walking to the nearby beach. We have started camping again and exploring all the beautiful areas around us, too. My husband is gearing up to retire in the next couple years (after 30 + years in the fire service!) and we look forward to having him home on a regular basis.
I have been in education since 2000! I have taught in California but the majority of my teaching has been in Washington. I taught high school English, creative writing, speech & debate, all the way to 4th grade and PE! But my passion is writing and reading. I even partnered with OSPI and supervised the SBA writing way back when it was a paper/pencil test known as the WASL!
I started working for the Pearl program at the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year because I love the supportive nature of ALE programs. As my daughter became part of such a program in Sequim, I could see what a great opportunity it is for families. I really enjoy supporting families and having a more collaborative relationship. I was also drawn to the flexibility of being able to be home with my daughter so that I could support her as a student while supporting Pearl students. She will be a freshman this year and I just can't say enough about how much an ALE has done for her!
I have enjoyed working with LAP students this past year, too, something I did previously for many years in a brick & mortar school. I look forward to seeing more growth this year!
